Car fire – M4 Swindon
11th February, 2024 at 12.57pm
We were called to the M4 westbound between J15 and J16 for a car well alight on the hard shoulder. Two crews attended, from Stratton and Swindon, and two breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, with our stop at 1.28pm. The occupants of the car had moved to safety prior to our arrival.

Cliff rescue – Charmouth
10th February, 2024 at 2.23pm
We were called to assist two people who were stuck about 10m above the beach between Charmouth and Golden Cap. Unfortunately, the caller’s phone was out of battery following the 999 call, so it took crews from Charmouth and Dorchester, together with a technical rescue team from Weymouth, until shortly after 4pm to locate the people, who were safe and uninjured. It was quickly established that the best way to rescue them was via the coastguard helicopter, due to the rising tide, and the stop was at 4.59pm.

Syrup spillage
8th February, 2024 at 1.59pm
A large quantity of food grade golden syrup was spilled on the road. Two crews initially attended, from Bridport and Dorchester, and firefighters worked to contain the spillage, supporting Dorset Council and the police in getting the affected area cleared.
